Latest research into the effects of traumatic brain injury

New research presented at Society for Neuroscience's annual meeting, Neuroscience 2015 (17—21 October 2015), in Chicago (IL, USA) has revealed new discoveries regarding symptoms, physiology and treatment options for traumatic brain injury (TBI). In particular, four highlighted animal studies have demonstrated evidence of differences in TBI manifestation in males versus females and adults versus children. Among work presented at the conference, the following studies were highlighted: - Considering gender differences in long-term consequences of mild TBI (mTBI), Ramesh Raghupathi (Drexel University, PA, USA) has demonstrated that female mice have increased sensitivity to touch up to 8 weeks post mild TBI....
