Maintaining vascular health may help prevent non-Alzheimer’s dementia

A study carried out in the Netherlands has investigated whether a multicomponent intervention targeting vascular risk factors is capable of preventing new cases of dementia. The findings were presented at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference 2016 (22 – 28th July 2016, ON, Canada). To date, the association between cardiovascular health and lifestyle-related risk factors with cognitive decline has not been fully understood and it is unclear whether targeting these risk factors could help to prevent dementia.
