New recommendations encourage collaborative working between neuroscientists and computer scientists for effective data management

Written by Jonathan Wilkinson

An international collaboration of interdisciplinary researchers has published recommendations on how neuroscience data should be managed, analyzed and shared. The recommendations follow on from the creation of the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative by the US government. BRAIN has already led to the development of tools and technologies that will allow scientists to improve their understanding of how the brain processes, utilizes, stores and retrieves information. However, there is currently no strategy in place to advise on how this data should be managed.  The research group, made up of mathematicians, computer scientists, physicists and experimental and computational...
