Researchers from Boston University Medical Center (MA, USA) have published the results of a large metabolomic study, the aim of which was to identify plasma biomarkers of incident dementia and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Specifically, the study revealed that higher levels of anthranilic acid were associated with greater risk of dementia. The report was published in the journal Alzheimer’s and Dementia, and implicate the potential role of the kynurenine pathway in neurodegenerative disease.
