Alzheimer’s: blood analysis shows promise for earlier diagnosis

Led by researchers at the University of Central Lancashire (UK), a new study has demonstrated the successful use of blood plasma spectroscopy to diagnose and differentiate various neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and dementia with Lewy bodies. Researchers say that the method allows for rapid, robust and inexpensive diagnosis, as well as segregation between dementias, making it a potentially valuable diagnostic and screening tool.
