Could lithium chloride inhibit fetal alcohol syndrome-related brain damage?

Researchers at the NYU School of Medicine (NY, USA) have discovered that a drug used in treatments for bipolar disorder and aggression could also be viable for treating the symptoms of fetal school syndrome such as sleep disturbance, memory loss and learning problems. Newborn mice were given lithium chloride 15 minutes after ‘binge’ alcohol consumption. The drug appeared to eliminate the hyperactivity and sleep deprivation exhibited in the control group once the mice reached maturity.
