Alzheimer’s disease pathology reversed in mouse model

Gradual depletion of the enzyme, BACE1, appears to have completely reversed the formation of beta-amyloid plaques in the brains of mice with Alzheimer’s disease (AD), according to research published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine.

The research brings hope that utilizing BACE1 as a drug target could aid the discovery of a successful treatment for AD.
