Blood test could improve detection of early Huntington’s disease

According to research led by scientists at University College London (UK), a simple blood test could detect the earliest changes caused by Huntington’s disease (HD), even before imaging changes are observed.

The study, which is published in Science Translational Medicine, builds on recent evidence by the same research team who identified that a novel blood test can predict the onset – and track the progression – of the disease in people who carry the gene responsible for the disorder.
