Treasure trove of 102 genes associated with autism identified

Researchers have identified 102 genes associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the largest exome sequencing of ASD to date, and report substantial progress in deciphering between genes associated with intellectual disability (ID) or developmental delay (DD), ASD and overlapping conditions. Jack Kosmicki, lead author from Harvard University (MA, USA), and a multidisciplinary team studied 37,269 genetic samples collected from 31 sampling sources worldwide and identified 26 genome-wide significant genes and 102 genes associated with ASD.
