Esketamine receives US FDA approval for treatment-resistant depression

The US FDA (MD, USA) has recently approved a new antidepressant termed, Spravato™ (esketamine) nasal spray, along with an oral antidepressant, for treatment-resistant depression in adults. Spravato is the first major new depression treatment to be approved by the FDA since Prozac hit the market more than 30 years ago, according to a report from the NPR.
