Wearable belt technology helps to improve balance in Parkinson’s patients

The Sensori-Motor Augumentation & Rehabilitation Technology (SMART) research group in the Department of Health and Human Performance at the University of Houston (TX, USA) have developed a way to improve the balance of Parkinson’s disease patients by utilizing biofeedback technology. The innovative technology, termed the Smarter Balance System (SBS), comprised  a custom-made wearable belt lined with vibrating actuators and a smartphone application.
