Call for Papers –Dialogues in Clinical Neuroscience: Women are unique: contemporary research in mental health for better realities in female populations
Do you have original research or review papers you wish to publish on supporting women’s mental health and addressing women’s distinct mental health needs? Dialogues in Clinical Neuroscience invites you to submit your paper to its latest Article Collection entitled ‘Women are unique: contemporary research in mental health for better realities in female populations’.
The influence of gender on mental health is increasingly recognized as essential, though much research still focuses on comparing female data to male populations without fully considering gender-specific pathways affecting women’s mental well-being. Understanding gender-specific factors in mental health helps improve outcomes by accounting for unique stressors and psychological influences. Historically, generalizing findings from male studies has led to inadequate treatments for women. Addressing women-specific mental health pathways not only improves care but also sheds light on social determinants, such as gender-based violence and caregiving roles, that disproportionately affect women.
This Article Collection aims to explore the distinct mental health needs of women. It seeks to address the intersection of biological, social and psychological influences on women’s mental health. Subtopics include but are not limited to hormonal impacts on mental health, the impact of reproductive events such as pregnancy and menopause, the effects of societal roles and expectations, gender-specific stressors, migrant populations, issues of violence against women, cross-cultural issues and women’s rights, addictions and vulnerability for developing affective disorders. This collection also examines the effects of societal roles and expectations on women’s mental health outcomes.
