Managing brain swelling that occurs after a traumatic brain injury (TBI) is crucial for individuals, as the increase in pressure inside the skull can potentially be life-threatening. However, a collaborative study from researchers at University of Utah Health (UT, USA) has revealed that this swelling may also be beneficial for protecting the brain.
