A study presented at the Congress of the European Academy of Neurology (Amsterdam, The Netherland, 22–27 June 2017) has suggested that Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) risk is affected by month of birth. According to the findings, October babies have the highest risk of developing GBS, whereas the risk is lowest for those born in June. Looking at records of almost 450 patients from across Serbia, Montenegro and the Republic of Srpska, the research team demonstrated that there is a 27% increase in GBS development rates in those born in October compared with the general population.
