According to a recent study from researchers at Washington University School of Medicine (MO, USA), a novel form of tau – referred to as microtubule binding region (MTBR) tau – found in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) could indicate what stage of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) a person is in.   Within their study, which has been published in the journal Brain, the investigators noticed that specific MTBR tau species were enriched in the brains of people with AD.
