Nanodevices in the brain could target Alzheimer’s by clearing β‐Amyloid

In another step towards preventing Alzheimer’s, researchers from the Argonne National Laboratory (IL, USA), together with the Korean Institute of Science and Technology (Seoul, South Korea) and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Daejeon, South Korea), have engineered a nano-sized device capable of capturing β‐amyloid peptides before they can form plaques. This approach also has the potential for use in thwarting other neurodegenerative diseases. Abnormal accumulation of β‐amyloid peptides in the brain over time remains a major hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease.
